Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ilona Varo, LMFT ("I," "me," or "my") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit ilonavaro.com (the "Site").

This policy covers the website only. If you are or become a client, your health information is protected under my Notice of Privacy Practices, which explains your rights under HIPAA. Please don't send sensitive health information through website forms, the newsletter sign-up, or email.

Information I collect

Information you give me

  • Contact forms: your name, email address, and anything you write in your message.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address.
  • Scheduling: when you book a call, Calendly collects your name, email address, and the details you enter.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, Squarespace (my website host) and Google Analytics collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, how you arrived at the Site, and your approximate location. Some of this is collected using cookies. See my Cookie Policy for details.

How I use your information

  • To respond to your messages and schedule consultations
  • To send my newsletter, if you signed up
  • To understand how the Site is used and improve it
  • To keep the Site secure and meet legal obligations

How information is shared

I do not sell your personal information.

I share information only with service providers that help me run the Site, including:

  • Squarespace – website hosting, forms, and email newsletters
  • Calendly – scheduling
  • Google Analytics – site usage statistics

I may also disclose information if the law requires it, or when needed to protect someone's safety.

Third-party links and embedded content

The Site links to and shows content from other services, such as Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Insight Timer, and Psychology Today. Those services have their own privacy policies, and embedded content may collect information about you as if you had visited that service directly.

How long I keep information

I keep contact and newsletter information only as long as needed for the reason it was collected, or until you ask me to delete it, unless the law requires me to keep it longer.

Your choices and rights

  • Emails: unsubscribe anytime using the link at the bottom of any newsletter.
  • Cookies: use the "Cookie Preferences" button on the Site to change your choices at any time.
  • Access, correction, and deletion: you can ask what personal information I have about you, or ask me to correct or delete it, by emailing me at the address below.
  • California residents: California law lets you request information about whether your personal information was shared with third parties for their own direct marketing. I do not share personal information for that purpose.
  • Do Not Track: the Site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

I use reasonable measures to protect information collected through the Site, but no website or internet transmission is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I'll post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
